Momentum

Momentum measures the relationship between a prospects size and speed or his mass and velocity. In this case, momentum comes in three flavors, utilizing a prospects forty time, ten and twenty yard splits.

The equation for determining momentum is Mass x Velocity or p=mv. The SI unit is kg x m/s.

This measurement can tell us who has the best combination of size and speed at the prospects respective position.

With an added emphasis to running backs, linebackers and defensive backs. The 10 yard momentum number is especially telling of a prospects ability to generate short area force. The higher the number, the better. The object of which is to meet force with greater force. Whether it's a running back generating forward momentum and exploding through a defender or a defender exploding through a running back he meets in the hole.
