Show/Hide Player Comments 1st (1st) 43DE Jadeveon Clowney South Carolina Jr 6'5 1/4" 266 lbs. 4.53

Analysis: Although the Texans are in need of a QB, Clowney is a can't miss player. After running a blazing 4.53 40 yard dash at the Scouting Combine, he proved how explosive he can be off the edge. With Clowney and J.J. Watt at the DE positions, the Texans become one of the more scarier pass rushing teams in the NFL.

The first shocker to me is Matthews going #3 to Jacksonville. I would think with all the QB options available in this draft it's going to have to be a franchise caller. They just traded Gabbert to SF too. Gilbert to the Falcons is pretty shocking too. Mack fell quite a bit. Yankey is up pretty high.

The big one to me is Bortles to #26 and Cleveland. Wow, what a slide! Why do you think he is a late round one guy?

First of all, thank you for your comment. It is very much appreciated.

Second, I'm new to mock drafting, so there's bound to be a few head scratchers.
But overall, I liked my draft. It's changed a lot since I created it with all
the moves now happening in free agency and trade rumors and speculations.

Now, allow me to explain...

First, Matthews made sense at #3 to me because as a rebuilding team, you need a
LT that's going to be there for 12-15 years. I figured they would hold out for a
QB until next years draft class with guys like Mariota, Hundley, Miller, and
maybe even Jameis Winston. But now that they've traded Gabbert, it looks to me
like they're going QB. My mock will be updated most likely to reflect this.

Gilbert to the Falcons makes sense. They need help in the secondary. Big time.
What position do you think they're looking for, if not CB?

As for Mack, dropping to 14 isn't catastrophic. And the Bears would love to have
him. I'm thinking maybe now either the Falcons or Bills would get him. Although
with the moves the Bucs have been making Defensively, they could be in the
market too.

The Yankey pick, now that I reflect on it, wasn't a very good one. I know the
Ravens need help on the OL, but I think they address it later in the draft.

As for Bortles. Out of the top 10 picks, the Texans, Jaguars, Browns, Raiders,
Bucs, and Vikings all have QB needs. The Bucs I think are confident in Mike
Glennon. The Texans, unless they trade out of the pick, are no doubt taking
Clowney Number 1, and I think they get their QB at the top of the 2nd round...

That leaves the Jags, Browns, Raiders, and Vikings. I still believe Raiders go
Manziel and Vikings go Bridgewater, although that could change by my next mock
draft. I believe if the Browns believe they can get a QB later in the draft,
they take a different positional need with a difference maker like Sammy
Watkins.

I don't think that Bortles will go #3 right now to the Jags. Things could
obviously change, but for now no. And then he slips all the way to 26, because
outside of the top 10, how many other teams need a QB? The only surprise team
could be the Titans at 11, but if not, that's why he slips to 26. Remember Brady
Quinn?(I know he sucked, but still). Same thing happened to Aaron Rodgers. They
both slipped in the draft after guys had them going high because there weren't
very many teams outside of the top 10 looking for QBs.

I hope I explained myself well enough. I look forward to mock drafting all 7
rounds, complete with trades, at the end of this month.

Thanks again for your comment!

I'm groovy with most of it and I love Ebron falling to the Pats - my only complain would be Khalil Mack
falling!
