Round (Overall) Pos Name Cls Height Weight 40 College
Show/Hide Player Comments 1st (16th) MLB Manti Te'o Sr 6'1 5/8" 255 lbs. 4.59 Notre Dame

Analysis: Surprise! Te'o has the ability to guard TEs and that is something the Rams have lacked of late. I think he is better suited to play SLB than MLB, and if this is the case he is the best SLB in this draft. I think he falls here because of his bad game in the national championship.

Show/Hide Player Comments 1st (22nd) OC Barrett Jones rSr 6'4 1/4" 305 lbs. 4.97 Alabama

Analysis: Again with Barrett Jones at pick 22. Well I just can't think of any other scenario in which we get him, and we absolutely need an OG in this draft. Since we get Te'o at 16, Warmack is out of the picture and probably gone anyway. Te'o falls because of bad national championship performance but make no mistake he is NFL ready, and will be a good linebacker. As I said before, Jones is just as good as Warmack, and that will be apparent by the end of the 2013 NFL season.

Show/Hide Player Comments 2nd (16th) HB Montee Ball Sr 5'11 1/8" 212 lbs. 4.57 Wisconsin

Analysis: I love this pick. In my other draft I have us taking Lacey early on. If we don't do that, I believe we go with proven talent later on. I have no idea how on earth Ball is so low on the draft charts, but he has the size and bowling ball style of play to make it in the NFL. He could take over for SJax in a yr and probably be a better redzone threat in the interim.

Show/Hide Player Comments 3rd (16th) FS Tyrann Mathieu Jr 5'7 3/4" 178 lbs. 4.51 No

Analysis: Same thing in my other draft. I just don't see any scenario in which the Rams don't draft him here, ala Jenkins in 2011 draft. He has the ability to make an immediate impact like Jenkins. And we have the front office to handle guys like this, and straighten them out.

Show/Hide Player Comments 4th (16th) WR Stedman Bailey rJr 5'9 5/8" 195 lbs. 4.49 West Virginia

Analysis: Yes a WR. We still need some depth there and early projections have a very large amount of WRs on the board early on. There is just no way that many go that early, and some will fall. I see this guy falling a bit, and it is perfect for us. We can finally cut ties with Brandon Gibson.

Show/Hide Player Comments 5th (16th) OT Reid Fragel Sr 6'6 1/2" 298 lbs. 4.92 Ohio St.

Analysis: I love this pick later on.

Show/Hide Player Comments 6th (16th) TE Jake Stoneburner rSr 6'4 5/8" 245 lbs. 4.78 Ohio St.

Analysis: I love this pick later on.

Show/Hide Player Comments 7th (16th) CB Travis Howard rSr 5'11 3/4" 196 lbs. 4.54 Ohio St.

Analysis: There are some hidden talents from Ohio State late in this draft and I'll tell you why - Tressel players were left over trying to make it in the Urban Meyer schemes and failed. These players are pro ready, as Tressel ran a very pro style scheme on offense and defense. I hope the Rams realize this and take advantage. Howard had no supporting cast, and still shined at times.
