Show/Hide All Player Comments Round (Overall) Pos Name College Cls Height Weight 40
Show/Hide Player Comments 1st (30th) CB Kevin Johnson Wake Forest rSr 6'0 1/4" 175 lbs. 4.56

Analysis: The Packers lost both the declinging Tramon Williams and the underachieving Davon House in free agency and now need a new #2 corner across from Sam Shields. Johnson would easily be able to handle the underwhelming #2 receivers in the NFC North and this would let Casey Hayward and Micah Hyde continue to play slot. While not their most pressing need the Packers go with the best player availble in Johnson.

Show/Hide Player Comments 2nd (30th) MLB Denzel Perryman Miami (FL) Sr 5'11 1/8" 242 lbs. 4.72

Analysis: The Packers got rid of both AJ Hawk and Brad Jones who had become liabilties on both defense and special teams. They take Perryman who was the last of the top tier ILB on the Fanspeak OTC to fill the spot across from Sam Barrington. While his height may be an issue it wasn't for Chris Borland who was terrific in his only NFL season and Perryman is both solid in run defense and in coverage.

Show/Hide Player Comments 3rd (30th) 43DE Lorenzo Mauldin Louisville Sr 6'3 3/4" 243 lbs. 4.73

Analysis: 3-4 OLB

2015 could be Julius Peppers' last year with the team unless he takes a pay cut next year. 2015 is also the last year the Packers have a look at Nick Perry to see if he's worth picking up his option for 2016. If they decide to part with both then they need depth at outside linebacker and taking Mauldin would be a smart choice. He can be a backup along with Mike Neal, another linebacker who could be gone next year, and Jayrone Elliot and get to learn how play linebacker.

Show/Hide Player Comments 4th (30th) WR Jamison Crowder Duke Sr 5'8 3/4" 175 lbs. 4.60

Analysis: The Packers struggled with kickoff returns and punts and didn't do Aaron Rodgers any favors with bad field position. This ends by taking Crowder to be the return specialist and perhaps a slot receiver. He could compete with Jared Abbrederis and Jeff Janis for the #4 spot behind Nelson, Cobb and Adams. An explosive game changer that's too good to be ignored in the 4th round.

Show/Hide Player Comments 5th (30th) NT Xavier Williams Northern Iowa rSr 6'3 1/4" 309 lbs. 5.18

Analysis: The Packers brought back both Letroy Guion and BJ Raji on one year deals each so the need for depth at nose tackle is needed in case Raji gets hurt again. Williams can spend the year on the bench learning and competing for the starting job in 2016.

Show/Hide Player Comments 6th TE Casey Pierce Kent St. rSr 6'3 5/8" 242 lbs. 4.78

Analysis: Packers have 2 good tight ends in Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers but depth is needed behind them. Pierce would be used as a blocker on running downs and has reliable hands but isn't the pass catching tight end Rodgers is right now.

Show/Hide Player Comments 6th QB Connor Halliday Washington St. rSr 6'3 3/4" 190 lbs. 4.87

Analysis: Packers need to find a reliable backup quarterback. Matt Flynn is likely not coming back and Scott Tolzein hasn't shown much development. Halliday would be a great project for Mike McCarthy to work with. Halliday came out of Mike Leech's air raid offense so he's got the arm and just needs to work on some tools

Show/Hide Player Comments 6th (30th) OT Corey Robinson South Carolina rSr 6'6 5/8" 341 lbs. 5.36

Analysis: The Packers resigined Bryan Bulaga and keeps the best offensive line Aaron Rodgers has had during his career. Depth is needed though as when Bulaga went down both of the backups were exposed. Robinson would be used here for depth and perhaps be next in line at left tackle if David Bahktiari leaves in 2 years

Show/Hide Player Comments 7th (30th) FB Aaron Ripkowski Oklahoma Sr 6'0 5/8" 257 lbs. 4.89

Analysis: John Kuhn is still a free agent so the Packers need to find a replacement if he's not brought back. Ripkowski is a hard hitting blocker that would pave the way for Eddie Lacy and would have to learn to pass block and catch passes but his physicality would help him earn a spot on the roster.
