ACinthe715's Packers Mock Draft

Dream Mock 3.0 Free Agency Madness

Since it's not the Packers deal to dive head first and recklessly sign free agents they are focusing on the draft. Once again this is used with Fanspeak's On the Clock program.

Show/Hide All Player Comments Round (Overall) Pos Name College Cls Height Weight 40
Show/Hide Player Comments 1st (30th) MLB Benardrick McKinney Mississippi St. rJr 6'4 1/4" 245 lbs. 4.58

Analysis: Packers go and take McKinney here to fill the middle linebacker spot across from Sam Barrington. Both AJ Hawk and Brad Jones (aka The Liabilities) are gone so they take McKinney who's excellent against the run and is better in coverage than Hawk and Jones. It's a also a good pick as the Saints at 31 took Denzel Perryman which would have left the Packers without an option for ILB in the 2nd round.

Show/Hide Player Comments 2nd (30th) NT Carl Davis Iowa rSr 6'4 1/4" 315 lbs. 5.12

Analysis: Packers want to resign BJ Raji and Letroy Guion back but they may only be able to bring back one. If that's the case they draft Davis here who's draft value may slide due to attitude issues but with guys like Mike Daniels and Julius Peppers on defense that shouldn't be a problem. The guy is strong like an ox and will be a handful for two defenders to contain.

Show/Hide Player Comments 3rd (30th) CB Lorenzo Doss Tulane Jr 5'10 5/8" 168 lbs. 4.52

Analysis: Packers lost Davon House to Jacksonville while Tramon Williams is still on the market. They draft Doss who was a three year starter at Tulane so he's not a one year wonder and has the ball skills the Packers love and will fight receivers for the ball. He could be a steal here in the 3rd round and could start Day 1.

Show/Hide Player Comments 4th (30th) OT Daryl Williams Oklahoma rSr 6'5 1/8" 321 lbs. 4.97

Analysis: Packers resigned Bryan Bulaga but they need to get depth behind him as JC Tretter was terrible when Bulaga went down against Buffalo and against Seattle opening night was a disaster. Williams can play behind and learn and may end up becoming the next left tackle if the salary cap is too tight to afford David Bahktiari in 2017.

Show/Hide Player Comments 5th (30th) HB Jeremy Langford Michigan St. rSr 5'11 5/8" 205 lbs. 4.47

Analysis: Packers have the bell cow running back in Eddie Lacy and a reliable backup in James Starks but Starks will be a free agent next year and his paycheck is not worth that of his production and he will be 2 years older and will try to find a starting job. They draft Langford here who's faster than people thought when he ran a 4.42 at the combine. He would be that shifty runner on passing downs and can get around the corner faster than Lacy can on those HB tosses that never worked, except 1 in Tampa Bay. This is an excellent value pick for the Packers. Best Player Available.

Show/Hide Player Comments 6th (30th) 34OLB Davis Tull Tennessee-Chattanooga rSr 6'2 1/4" 242 lbs. 4.59

Analysis: 2015 could be Julius Peppers' last year unless he reworks the final year of the deal as the Packers need salary cap space for Mike Daniels, Casey Hayward and Eddie Lacy. They draft Tull to be a special teams player right away but could fight for a spot on defense when Peppers leaves and when the Packers don't pick up the option on 2012 draft bust Nick Perry next year

Show/Hide Player Comments 7th (30th) WR Levi Norwood Baylor rSr 6'0 5/8" 195 lbs. 4.52

Analysis: Packers are loaded at WR with Nelson, Cobb and Adams and also with Jared Abbrederis and Jeff Janis but they struggled in special teams returns last year so they draft Norwood to compete with Abbrederis for the kick returner spot. At best the Packers take 6 WRs into the season and at worst he shows enough in camp to be put on the practice squad.
